Broward County Women's History Coalition 15th Annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
Fort Lauderdale, FL- Come and celebrate accomplishments and dreams of Broward county's women on Sunday, March 26, 2006 at 1:30p.m., when the Broward County Women's History Coalition honors four inspirational women who have greatly contributed to society and the advancement of women in the community at the 15th Annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The Coalition will be working in conjunction with the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society at the ceremony, which will be held at the Society's historic site, the Old Fort Lauderdale Village and Museum. The induction ceremony will feature keynote speaker, Senator Nan Rich from Florida's 34th district along with the students who won this years' essay contest. The ceremony will be followed by a reception in the New River Inn inaugurating the new Women's Hall of Fame exhibition which will be co-curated by Carol Pasternak from the Women's Coalition and Jack Rutland from the Historical Society. The ceremony in the pavilion is free to attend; advanced tickets for reception in the New River Inn are available at $10 and $15 at the door. Four Inspirational Women Honored
The Women's Coalition is proud to induct: the late Myrtle T. "Andy" Anderson, Lorraine Fletcher, Melissa Fojtik, and Evelyn Miller into the Broward County Women's History Coalition, Hall of Fame. Former inductee and keynote speaker Senator Nan Rich said she "was so proud to be inducted into the Broward County Women's Hall of Fame and to be recognized for my work on behalf of women, children, and families. It was particularly meaningful to join the group of outstanding women who received this honor before me and who have contributed so much to the quality of life in our community".

Women's Coalition and the Historical Society Working Together
Coalition treasurer and event chair, Carol Pasternak is excited and proud to have the Women's Coalition and the Historical Society working together on the preservation and advancement of the organization. The Historical Society's Head Curator, Jack Rutland is thrilled at the opportunity of working with the Women's Coalition on their annual exhibition of Broward's exemplary women in addition to being the permanent archive for the organization. In an exciting collaboration, the public will have computer access to the materials of the Women's Coalition. The Broward Women's Coalition exhibition will run from March 26th through August 6th in the New River Inn, Museum of History located at the Old Fort Lauderdale Village and Museum. Fort Lauderdale Historical Society – Conservator of the City's Heritage
Founded in 1962, the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society is the primary conservator of the city's heritage. Located where Flagler's East Coast Railway crosses the New River, Old Fort Lauderdale Village and Museum includes the 1907 King-Cromartie House, a museum of pioneer lifestyle; the 1905 Philemon Bryan House, the home of the Society's administrative offices; a replica 1899 School House, modeled on the area's first school house; and the 1905 New River Inn, the area's first tourist hotel built in 1905. The Old Fort Lauderdale Museum of History and village shop are located in the Inn, as is a charming meeting room perfect for parties and special events. The Hoch Heritage Center holds the Society's archives, library and collections, including 250,000 photographs, 8,000 artifacts, 30,000 newspaper clippings and 250 oral history recordings.
